A YouTube video entitled “The Church of Oprah Exposed” received well over 4 million views in its first three weeks in cyberspace. It deals with the New Age spiritual agenda that has become so much a part of the Oprah Winfrey Show. It is definitely worth watching. The most influential woman in television history is leading her massive audience in a very dangerous direction.
At about the two-minute mark of this seven-minute video, the narrator states:
“Today she has turned millions of her adoring fans over to New Age doctrine. Christians are letting this into their homes and are being deceived.”
Oprah is not the only person promoting a huge deception on an easily influenced American public. In 2000, when he was running for president, a reporter asked George W. Bush what philosopher had influenced him the most. Bush responded: “Jesus Christ, because he touched my heart.”
Based on just this one statement, millions of Christians totally went overboard in their admiration of GWB. Almost any influential evangelical pastor who voiced any opinion concerning politics got busy portraying Bush as this Great Christian Man. The drumbeat that had long been in the evangelical churches about the Republican Party went ballistic. The quiet rat-tat-tat of a military drummer became a barrage like one might hear from The Who’s Keith Moon or Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham. I never tire of quoting Pastor Chuck Baldwin, when he stated that conservative evangelicals “now want to add Bush to the Holy Trinity.”
The Bible mentions the word “King” almost 2000 times. Hence, Christians have a duty to be concerned with political affairs. However, this does not mean that we must cast aside all discernment. Jesus tells us to be shrewd as serpents – Matthew 10:22 – and to beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing – Matthew 7:15-20.
Yet, so many evangelicals are so enamored with GWB and so obsessed with Republican electoral victories that they will completely disregard biblical morality and constitutional restraints on federal power. This is situational ethics on steroids.
That GWB even got his party’s nomination was the political equivalent of an intentional walk. Since he was elected, evangelicals have given him more intentional walks than Barry Bonds – speaking of ‘roids -- could ever possibly imagine. Spiritual blindness has led them into either total denial about or endless, mindless cheerleading for their Great Christian President.
I often have difficulty explaining why I have left certain Christian venues. It was never about politics. I left because I saw too many churches turned into political tools and too many Christians promoting the worst forms of godlessness as if it was justified by politics. Politics tipped me off to the un-Christian influence that had come over so many Christians. Propaganda is a powerful tool and mainstream evangelical broadcasters are masters of it. The result has been millions of Christians who are dumbed down and totally devoid of discernment.
Again, we are to inspect the fruit on the tree or, if you will, the bush. The fruit on Bush’s tree is not at all that of a Christian. The biblical injunction to pray for those in authority – I Timothy 2:2 -- does not mean that we should follow them blindly.
GWB does not even know the very basics of the Christian faith. On at least two occasions, he has stated that we all believe in the same God. (1) This is not Christianity – John 14:6, Acts 4:12 – but New Age universalism. Had Bill Clinton said this, the same folks that exalt GWB would laugh convulsively.
On numerous occasions, Our Christian President has used the White House to promote Islam. The mainstream Christian media has been silent about this. Can you even begin to imagine their indignation had Bill Clinton done this?
On the “Christian issues”, GWB has not displayed the fruit of a Christian. He has looked the other way as one million babies a year are killed in their mother’s wombs. He has thrown numerous political bones to homosexuals. I am not even going to try to list all of GWB's transgressions here. Rather, I will just direct you to this phenomenal article by Patrick Johnston.
“Conservative” Bush outspends Kommunist Klinton by $1 trillion per year. Every liberal program that evangelicals used to say they hated is bigger, costlier and uglier than ever under “conservative” Bush.
GWB has no inhibitions about invading countries that have never done anything to us and killing God knows how many thousands of innocent people. Evangelicals are quick to justify this in the name of “pre-emption.” Of them I ask: if it is wrong for Iraq to attack America, is it not just as wrong for America to attack Iraq? God hates hands that shed innocent blood – Proverbs 6:16-17 -- no matter whose hands they are.
Does God hold America in greater favor than Iraq? Not when we abort one million babies every year He doesn’t! Indeed, He warns us the pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall – Proverbs 16:18. God isn’t just hacked off at abortionists or gays or the liberal media and entertainment business. He is hacked off at a nation – and especially an evangelical community – that is so arrogant as to think it can run the world. God, not GWB or any other president, is the Decider, if you will, of how nations are governed – Acts 17:26. There is nothing Christian about empire – Matthew 4:10.
I don’t know what exactly happened on 9/11, but there is no way anymore that I can buy the official story. Indeed, more and more Americans all the time are asking more and more questions about 9/11. (2) However, the greatest defenders of the official version of events, the most bloodthirsty warmongers and the people most willing to surrender their liberty in the name of security are evangelical Christians.
Indeed, several thousand pastors have agreed to join “clergy response teams”, whose job it will be to quell dissent in the event of martial law. Quell dissent? How about doing your duty as a watchman on the wall -- Ezekiel 33:6 – and preaching hellfire and brimstone against any president or government that would even think of martial law?
Speaking of pastors, much has been made of the demagoguery of Barack Obama’s pastor, Jeremiah Wright. Consider the conduct of some of the pastors that have fostered the cult of personality surrounding GWB.
People who call me on my “absolute rabid hate” of GWB don’t get it. A main theme of my writing has been the totally unmerited adoration and adulation that evangelicals have heaped on him. It has nothing to do with whether I like him personally. And it has nothing to do with whether or not he is, in fact, a Christian. This is not for me to judge.
If I “hate” anything it is that so many Christians are so gullible as to put so much faith and trust in an earthly ruler based on just one utterance about Jesus. I swear I should write a book, or at least make a YouTube video on this subject. As I recently put it to a friend, this just may be part of the Big Ramp-Up toward the world religion and world government prophesied in Revelation 13.
In the Old Testament – I Samuel 8:4-20 – the children of Israel demanded that God give them a king. God said He would honor their request, but that they would be sorry. In the New Testament – Matthew 21:9 – the Jews wanted Jesus to be a political savior and to throw off the yoke of Roman oppression. Jesus’ Ministry was not political. There was Something the people needed more than political liberation.
In 1933 in Germany, millions of people wanted a political savior. This included large numbers of Christians who would become Adolf Hitler’s most ardent supporters. (3)
I am profoundly fearful that millions of Americans today want a political savior and that they will forsake God’s Word as well as the liberty that God gave us for the false hope of a political quick-fix.
Several times in recent months, frustrated people have asked me what the Christian patriot remnant can do. I have laid a lot of Scripture on you here, so I will leave you with two passages. The first is Proverbs 26:4:
“Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you will be like him yourself.”
This is a polite way of saying don’t waste your time arguing with an idiot.
The second passage is II Timothy 4:2-4:
“Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage -- with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”
I constantly need to remind myself to just deal with it. Stop trying to persuade people intellectually who do not want to be persuaded. Concentrate instead on finding people who want to listen. Sow the seed on fertile soil. And leave the results to God.

Email. I get email. I get lots and lots of email. The Bible is God's inspired word. It should be followed. Standing in a church no more makes one a Christian as standing in a garage makes one a car. For most Americans, the fedgov is their saviour, not Jesus. I adhere to "treat others as you would like to be treated". Well, I sure wouldn't want to be attacked and have my family killed. Therefore I can't want that to happen to others. -- GE in Florida
