Babe Ruth is still the greatest baseball player ever.
Consider the following two statistics:
1) Ruth's lifetime average -- .342 -- is four points higher than Tony Gwynn's. Since Ruth retired, only Ted Williams had a higher career batting average.
2) Ruth won 24 games one year and 23 in another. Roger Clemens' second winningest season was 21 victories.
Barry is awesome, but the Bambino is still the greatest.
